Corn Woman

Acrylic on Canvis

Brooklyn, NY 2014

Corn Woman is based off my adventrues in a new land called New Mexico.  I fell in love with the flora and fauna of the land as well as the rich history of the Native Americans and combined those elements to create this work of art.

The figures represent the numerous unmarked graves of Native Americans while returning to the earth they give new life to the enviornment where they fell.

The color palate was chosen by research and by rocks that I collected while traveling aound the mountens of northern New Mexico.

This work was a two year journey morphing from the origional figure emerging from corn plants, to the final piece where she is returning to the land.
